Purpose

The Urban Group at Stanford University is an interdisciplinary group of
Earth System scientists studying the interactions among urbanization,
global change, and sustainability. Our projects include:

• Using remote sensing to monitor land-use and land-cover change, especially urban growth

• Understanding the interaction among policy, land-use, and global environmental change

• Simulating and forecasting land-use change

• Simulating and forecasting regional sociodemographics and economies

• Understanding the effects of land-use change
